As Seen in the New Brewer Magazine

Forgeworks is a long term member of the Brewers Association, and we are dedicated to showcase our company in the New Brewer Magazine, published by the association.

Each year at the Craft Brewer’s conference,  from a Brewery in Planning’s perspective, is the amazement of the vast sea of Stainless Steel,  including smaller scale (3.5bbl to 10bbl) Brewhouses dressed up with Process Piping (aka Hard-Piping), and elaborate Control Panels.  What you should know is that at this 10bbl and smaller scale,  this added equipment is not necessary,  and may never pay for itself in labor savings.   What’ real is that these are typical features that are necessary on larger scale brewhouses,  15bbl or 20bbl and larger,  where the brewery has a some amount of dedication to packaging and distribution.  Often the brewery with this type of equipment may brew back to back brews several times per week or even run two to three brew shifts a day.  If you think you might brew like that,  you may want to think about a larger system to begin with. At the 15bbl or larrger scale, everything changes, and this is where more complex controls, process piping and rake and plow play a very critical role.

At Forgeworks,  we understand that breweries have different needs and interests that best fulfill their current and future strategy.  For this reason we do offer the process piping, controls and rake and plow upgrades to our brewhouses,  but our focus is on the Brew Pub business model,  where utilizing a brewhouse at a 10bbl or smaller scale,  with soft hose connections and a simple controller is best suited.    When you are a start up with the Brew Pub model in mind,  there are a lot of equipment purchases and build-out projects competing for your starting capital.  We believe there are many other things more important to invest in,  than all the controls and hard-piping on the brewhouse.
